Eye Yoga for Natural Vision Improvement

A yoga routine including eye relaxation and exercises improves vision naturally. While you sleep your eyes continue to work. Taking the time to relax your eyes to improve your eye health is important for your vision. Relaxing the whole body is essential before starting eye yoga exercises. Lie down in a prone position and relax every part of the body from head to toes. Once you are relaxed you may begin eye yoga.

There are many exercises that can be done to improve vision. Begin eye exercises in a seated position after your body is completely relaxed. Breathe even breaths in and out during eye exercise. Gaze shifting, eye rotations, breathing and palming can be done to improve vision.

Gaze shifting is simple. Begin by choosing something you can look at without straining, preferably on the other side of the room from where you are seated. Focus on this object. Shift your gaze to the floor. Shift your gaze back to the object you had chosen again. Continue to shift your gaze deliberately, slowly from one point to the other while holding the rest of your body still in a relaxed state. Your body should remain still while doing this exercise.

Eye rotations start with your eyes wide open. Look up then back down ten times. Rotate eyes to top and then bottom of the visual field. Do this in slow even movements without blinking. Do not move anything besides your eyes during this exercise. Do not strain to see farther up or down than your eyes are capable of doing naturally.

Horizontal eye movements are a little more complicated. Start by moving eyes from left to right and back again. Between movements relax eyes by Palming. Continue by moving eyes from top right to bottom left in a diagonal direction. Finally move eyes in full circles clockwise then counter clockwise. Do each movement ten times. Remember to remain still, focused, and calm while doing horizontal eye movements.

Gazing is done with eyes wide open, looking at one spot without blinking until your eyes water. Relax your eyes while looking in one place allowing vision to blur so that you do not see anything. Focus your gaze on your left shoulder without turning your head. Hold this as long as you can then close your eyes. When you open your eyes do the same but for the other shoulder. Once you have finished eye exercises, breathing exercises (Pranayama) should be done. This is done by inhaling, holding, then exhaling each to a count of four. Practice relaxation and eye exercises on a regular basis for natural vision improvement.

You can do the simple forms of eye yoga at your place of work without bringing attention to yourself. The 3-D posters that require you to relax your eyes to see the image are another way to relax your eyes while in the office. Calendars with 3-D images on them can hang on your office wall and every time you take a break focus your efforts on relaxing your eyes by looking for the 3-D image in the picture. Remember to relax and to breathe slowly and deliberately while relaxing your eyes.

When you don't have time to do full relaxation exercises, palming helps with eye stress. This is especially helpful after staring at a computer screen for several hours. The technique is simple. First rub your hands together briskly until they become warm. Next place the palms of your hands over your closed eyes so that the heat is felt but no pressure is on your eyes. You should be able to see nothing but complete darkness. Concentrate on the darkness as long as you are able to while your eyes enjoy the warmth and darkness. All of these exercises are ways you can help to improve your vision naturally.
